Warren N. Lieberfarb has built an extraordinary 40-year record of accomplishment in numerous aspects of the entertainment industry—home video, feature films and television. He possesses a rare combination of skills: a strong financial background; an intimate knowledge of the creative process; deep involvement in all aspects of consumer marketing; and, over the past twenty years, a leadership role in the digital technology developments that have transformed all aspects of entertainment. For the past ten years, Lieberfarb has been Chairman and CEO of Warren N. Lieberfarb & Associates LLC (WNLA), a consulting and investment firm specializing in entertainment, media, technology and content distribution. Prior to the founding of WNLA, Mr. Lieberfarb advised industry leaders as Toshiba, Samsung, Comcast, Walt Disney Co., Turner Broadcasting, Cisco, Intel, Sirius Radio, Hughes Telematics, and many others. Mr. Lieberfarb was the head of Warner Home Video from 1982-2002. Appointed President in 1984, Mr. Lieberfarb guided the company through nearly two decades of unparalleled growth, building WHV into the premier video software company in the world boosting revenue from $73 million in 1982 to $4.0 billion in 2002.
Mr. Lieberfarb’s most significant achievement is his universally acknowledged role as the architect of the DVD, a product that transformed the entire home video industry. Mr. Lieberfarb holds more than a dozen patents in connection with DVD and in recognition of his unique role in creating the DVD, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Mr. Lieberfarb with an Emmy Award in 1999.
Mr. Lieberfarb is currently Chairman of Astral Images, a newly formed company that has developed next-generation software solutions for the digitalization, restoration and archiving of film.
